high
elasticity and movement accomodation,
typically used for all types of external weatherproofing. Low
Modulus - quantity that expresses the degree to which a substance
possesses a property, such as elasticity. The
condition in which material is slightly flexible where resilience
will withstand expansion and contraction, vibration,
impact and stress.
Weathersealing
of curtain walling, building facades, expansion joints. Also
a frame sealant.
low
elasticity and movementaccomodation. High
Modulus - quantity that expresses the degree to which a substance
possesses a property, such as elasticity. High-strength material that is rigid. Used
specifically where high strength is needed. Generally internal
application.
Developed
for use by the sealant contractor for a range of non-porous
substrates with fungicide.
Cures with atmospheric moisture
with high movement accommodation
and excellent adhesion. Having
only a limited ability to react chemically; not active; "inert
matter"; "an indifferent chemical in a reaction". For
all building and glazing materials,
without any of the unwanted 'side effects' Acetoxy or similar
cure could possibly cause.
Sealing
general construction substrates with good adhesion to porous
and non-porous surfaces.
For Structural bonding of
glass, metal, and other building components. Specifically designed
and tested for structural glazing. A
part of a structure that bears a weight, or the structural piece
used for such a part.A
part of a structure that carries a load.
High
ultimate tensile strength sealant ideally suited for structural
bonding and protective glazing apps.
Elastomeric
construction sealants and adhesives.
Modified
-Changed in form or character/ Polymer - A substance
with a molecular structure formed from many identical small
molecules bonded together. Silane - a chemical compound with
chemical formula SiH4. It is the silicon analogue of methane.
Fixing
plasterboard or timber panels,dado rails,door surrounds,worktops,ceramics,skirting boards.
Fire
Rated - Giving
a tested and/or approved fire hour rating seal for preventing
the spread of smoke and flames caused by fire.
A
fire-resistance rating typically means the duration for which
a passive fire protection system can withstand a standard fire
endurance test. This can be quantified simply as a measure of
time, or it may entail a host of other criteria, involving other
evidence of functionality.
Cracks & fissures in firebricks/places,solid fuel ovens, ranges, boilers, internal flue pipes, c/h systems etc.
Intumescent
- Swelling
up; expanding. A
substance which swells as a result of heat exposure, thus increasing
in volume and decreasing in density. Intumescents are typically
used in passive fire protection and require bounding installations
in order to comply with the law.
MS
Polymer for expansion & compression joints with frequent
movement as part of a fire resistant assembly.
Polysulphide
- Polysulphide
polymers are insoluble in water, oils & many other organic
solvents therefore often used as sealants. A primary reason for using this material in these applications
is to prevent water intrusion. Alsooverpaintable.
External
perimeter pointing of door and window frames, and expansion
joints.
Acrylic
- Artificial
fiber made from a special group of vinyl compounds. Thermoplastic (soften
when heated, reharden upon cooling).
Have
low moisture regain and is low in density, drys easily and is
dimensionally stable. Resistant to bleaches, dilute acids and
alkalies. Over-Paintable.
Easy
to apply flexible acrylic filler for sealing
gaps & cracks prior to decorating.
Non-Stain
- Typically
for weatherproofing and sealing sensitive porous stone without
leeching.
Stain- To discolor, soil, or spot a surface.
To produce or receive discolorations.
Food/Refridgeration
- Sealing
where food contact is likely or imminent.
Food
- Material, usually of plant or animal origin. Can be prepared
or consumed raw / Refridgeration - The process of removing heat
from an enclosed space, and rejecting it elsewhere for the primary
purpose of lowering the temperature of the enclosed space and
then maintaining that lower temp.
Plasterboard
walls, floors/ceilings,dry linings & insulation boards
to form an acoustic & f.r. intumescent barrier.
Bitumen
- Sealants
for use against bitumenous substrates. Mixture
of mineral aggregate and bitumen (or tarmac in common parlance).
any one of the natural hydrocarbons, including the hard, solid,
brittle varieties called asphalt.
Seals
and waterproofs cracks, joints and holes. Rapid cure.
Silicone
Rubber - Acetoxy
silicone rubber sealants that fill and caulk.
A
class of inert, semi-inorganic polymeric compounds of silicon, having a wide range of thermal stability and extreme water repellence.
Pliable material derived from the sap of the rubber tree.
A
silicone rubber sealant that fills and caulks gaps, joints
and cracks around the boat.
2-Part
Polysulphide - Polysulphide
polymers are insoluble in water, oils, and many other organic
solvents and therefore are often used as sealants. A primary reason for using this material in these applications
is to prevent water intrusion.
Water
based treatment penetrates dusty/chalky,badly
weathered surfaces to leave a sound base for decoration.
19
Various
- Wall
and roof paints/coatings and admixtures for specialist treatment
of most substrates both internal and external. Of
many different kinds, purposefully arranged but lacking any
uniformity.
Solvent
based, cold applied bituminous compound containing a small
amount of organic fibre to add strength.
Cementitious
- Cement-based
powders etc. Cementitious
(adj.) like or relevant to or having the properties of cement
: "the adhesion of cementitious materials"
3-part g.p. epoxy mortar that makes easy & permanent
repairs to damaged concrete, screeds, brick, etc.
Additives - Products
used for adding to other materials.
A
substance added in small amounts to something else to improve,
strengthen, or otherwise alter it.
Chloride
Free rapid hardener liquid additive designed to accelerate setting/hardening times of mortar, concretes etc.
Fillers
& Foams - A variety of gap filling materials to save money and time
for all kinds of applications.
